Show Report PiS Festcomposed by Johan Dreyer
This show was held at the Rama Sebo convention centre in Freetown on April 30 and May 1.Unfortunately my kids played with my camera and destroyed the photos.Highlights were:JBL announced that they were s...

The reticulated foam makes a difference and that is for sure. However it does lower the output. From about 1db up to 2.5db! depending on the amount you put inside your horns. Is it transparent? It is not, as it creates and audible difference even if ...

Nah, not really I think I understood what you meant by real estate I just meant that I did not have large rooms, therefore not much space.I like your vertical array of horns and the line arrayed LF section. That doesn't take too much space. My pro...

Hi Be,the thread is about the "bad" reputation horns have with "audio" people. Applying liquid dynamics gives them more fuel for the fire, that is why I avoid using stuff that really doesn't apply. We have no real flow of air or "turbulence" in a hor...

Romy wrote:While the aftermath of the midbass horn project is not over I am strategizing how I might implement Macondo’s LF section. The leading idea is to bolt a triangular shape sealed enclosure juts behind the small wall that cover the load be...

I did not know that Lynn Olson and Earl Geddes involved in Levinson’s operation. With all disagreement with those individuals I thought that they are smarter than to deal with Mark Levinson. I hope they did not give him any money and did not accept ...

Hi Romy,
When we spoke at CES, you mentioned that your experience with field coil drivers only extended to cone types. So I assume that you have never heard any field coil compression drivers. That would include the WE 555, 594, RCA 1428, Lansing, e...

op.9,
to put your comment I perspective it is necessary to know what surface you had on your Lecleach horns before. If you search the site (use world textured or structured) then you would know that I am a vocal opponent of smooth surfaces on horns....
Have you tried taking a measurement with the line arrays moved to the rear of the room? (ideally, he same as the current distance from the listening point, but behind you).
As I said I moved them everywhere.[q...
I feel you may be doing John Attwood a disservice here. There are two reviews of this book. The first one which you quote extensively from appears to have been written by Lynn Olson. The second, much shorter review is ...
Perhaps the book falls under the "theory of irrelativity". I thought maybe there could be a useful tidbit inside. One good thing about blogs - people may not agree with you - but at least you can safely post an opini...
I continue to be baffled by listeners who are seeking the global ‘good sounding” loudspeaker - the Holy Grail of loudspeaker design. By this I mean the loudspeaker that makes any and all source-material sound good to them. U...

There is absolutely nothing in Fane 8M specifications that is responsible for the diver sound. So, what is the purpose to ask about the new specifications? One might think that someone can use “specifications” as an assu...

Yes, I did not realize that the price of £225 is for a PAIR; usually price is given per driver. I guess the £225 per pair is not and of the world but I still insist to pay 65 cents per 1 Euro as it use to do… In past I n...

A tractrix and a exponential horn was compared in a AES paper sometime 1950-1970, I dont remember when exactly.
The two round and straight horns where made with the same theoretical cut off frequency, something like 100Hz, they had the same mo...

One shall not be Nostradamus to be able to foresee that I would religiously appose to this approach for playback evaluation. I do understand why Harman would love it as it creates a sales tolls and the sales rationalization but it has absolutely...

I was thinking about the throat of my hypothetic midbass horn. This is complex, controversial and it has pretty much no answer, at least in the formeat I ask it. I will share my thoughts with you. Let pretend that I went for exponential midbass profi...
For a lot of reasons, I'd vote for an alternate placement. You've got that basement, so why not use it as a rear chamber? You might be able to use the volume "as is", without building a proper rear chamber. In this ca...
